![]() Open ASCOM Pad, it should show enabled NESW buttons etc if it finds POTH. Open POTH and use its setup to use the PMC* ascom driver from ES. I see you have the 2.09 ASCOM Pad working so I gues you know about the POTH etc. It works in concert with Stellarium Scope to drive the PMC8 through ASCOM. Assuming you didn't: Stellarium is downloaded from this web site. On Wed, at 4:41 PM Wes Mcdonald wrote: Darryl: I can't tell from the thread if you ever found Stellarium. What I have not tried is, after tracking past the meridian, if I pick another object Wet, will the mount flip. Further I have observed the scope under control of Stellarium will track past the meridian and does not perform a flip - you can clack the motor casing together, haha. For example if I am tracking along just east of the meridian and pick an object just west of it, the scope steers all the way around. I don't know yet what element of the various pieces of software did that. I have verified that when you pick a target in STellarium, the mount will do a Meridian flip as needed to get from where it is to where it needs to go. (Hint to all you programmers out there.ASCOM Pad could use a ramp up and down function.) I have found jerking the mount to a speedy movement causes my OTA etc to oscillate a bit which of course puts loads on the worm and ring gear teeth and per Jerry may cause the PMC8 motor counts to not comport with the true mount location. His ASCOM driver does not ramp up the speed of the motors when commanded by ASCOM Pad. Also note Jerry's admonishment about setting the speeds too high in Stellarium Scope. You can do this using the scope simulator in POTH to get stuff set up. You can use the reticle to get a sense of what the velocity of movement each of the speed settings in ASCOM PAd means relative to what you are going to experience looking through an eyepiece. After a ctrl-1 press the scope icon will come along eventually into the center also. When you pick an object by clicking on it twice, the reticle will center itself on the object and I think both in the center of the screen. Stellarium has a simulated Telrad reticle which you open by clicking the symbol in the upper right corner of the display. If you observe the RA/DEC on the POTH it will not change, but the scope icon on the screen of stellarium will move back to the target.no actual scope movement. Move the mount using your ASCOM PAd until the object is centered in the eyepiece. When you first boot Stellarium you might want to go to the NCP.the scope icon should be there. you click the object, and then you get the scope to go there by pressing ctrl-1. You just scroll around until you see and object you like. Once everything starts and stops crashing you should be good. That apparently makes it work with Stellarium SCope upon boot. This is done via Stellariums "Configuration" menu, "Plugins" sub menu, Telescope Control option- when you get there check the "Load on startup" checkbox. Before you get to this point, you should open Stellarium one time to set it to always do telescope control. ini file, then you can push the open Stellarium button and it will come up fine. IF you have previously gone through the kabuki dance of having Stellarium Scope modify Stellarium's. Everybody that wants piece of the PMC8 needs to go through the Hub, which is POTH 5. MAke sure you select as the telescope POTH.Telescope. I don't know if this is just part of having a playstation controller or what 4. One odditiy I found in ASCOM Pad is that every time I examine the button assignments, rather I change them or not, if I dont hit "Apply Changes" to leave the setup, the POV_X button assignment go away.and I have to reassign them. ![]() Darryl: I can't tell from the thread if you ever found Stellarium.
